Why Search Engine Optimisation?

Do we need SEO? Peering from the perspective of marketing psychology, having results obtained from organic search engine (SE) results have higher credibility (hence, believability factor) and are more trusted by search users, as compared to paid advertising. Why is this so? It is because users believe and know that website owners cannot guarantee search engines visibility simply by paying money and using the buzz keywords - they'd think of websites ranking on top 3, that those guys must really know what they're do, or that many people are going there that's why it's top 3, or simply, let's face it, it's just more convenient to click on the first 3 of SE results than to go 3 pages away to click on results 40+. Also the search engine users trust natural SE results more if they are simply browsing around to see what will meet their requirements.

We must understand that organic SE results provide the biggest traffic from most searched terms, unless the term(s) are highly targeted and linked to a pay-per-click (PPC) message or link.

Ranking high on search engines gains increased visibility, albeit at a cost, but note that you DO NOT need to pay for each click everytime someone clicks on your link to get to your website like paid search marketing progams do.

What you pay for is to gain and keep your heightened visibility for your chosen search terms. Unlike pay per click paid search marketing approach, SEO and marketing strategies does not incur the same type of costing for every keyword for lead/sale generation.

Since there is no official or fixed training for search engine marketing techniques or skills, constant R&D is required to constantly keep at heightened visibility/rankings within search engines.
